About Fredrik

Fredrik Filipsson co-founded GlobalSchoolGuide to bring transparency to a market that runs on glossy prospectuses and word-of-mouth. Like his co-founder, his understanding of international schooling is first-hand: he attended international schools across several countries growing up, and he has since chosen and paid for international schools for his own children abroad.

He is unusually allergic to vague claims and hidden costs, which is why GlobalSchoolGuide publishes fee bands with a "confirm with the school" note instead of inventing precise numbers, and refuses to publish a rating until it holds verified parent reviews.

Areas of focus

  • Comparing the real, all-in cost of schooling across cities and countries
  • Paying school fees from abroad, currency and timing of large education payments
  • Evaluating school quality from inspection data rather than marketing
  • Relocation logistics for families moving with school-age children

First-hand experience

Having been both the relocated child and the relocating parent, Fredrik knows where international-school decisions go wrong: choosing a curriculum that doesn't travel, underestimating fees, or trusting a ranking that no one can verify. That experience is built into the editorial standards he and the team hold every page to.
