What we mean by "best IB"

An IB Diploma school is meaningful when it reliably produces cohorts averaging 33+ points across at least three years, with a top-third regularly clearing 38 points and university destinations to match. The schools below all meet that bar. We exclude PYP-only and MYP-only programmes from the ranking. they are valuable but not directly comparable.

The 2026 top 8 IB schools in Dubai

1

GEMS Wellington International School

2

Dubai American Academy (GEMS)

The strongest dual AP-IB school in Dubai. Particularly suited to students considering top-50 US universities, where IB Diploma and AP scores can be presented in combination. Strong faculty in sciences and economics; languages pathway less deep than the British-heritage IB schools.

3

Dwight School Dubai

IB Continuum (PYP/MYP/DP)Very Good (KHDA)2025 avg: 33.8Al Barsha South

Dubai International Academy (Emirates Hills)

IB ContinuumOutstanding (KHDA)2025 avg: 32.4Emirates Hills

Among the older and most established IB schools in Dubai. Full continuum. Catchment skews to long-tenured expat families. Cohort breadth means average points are good but not elite; top-quartile students reliably clear 38+.

8

Nord Anglia International School Dubai

IB Diploma + BritishVery Good (KHDA)2025 avg: 32.1Al Barsha

Newer IB cohort within the Nord Anglia network. Benefits from access to global Nord Anglia partnerships (Juilliard, MIT). IB pathway is small but well-resourced. Worth considering for families already in the Nord Anglia ecosystem from another country.

What didn't make the top 8

Several Dubai schools offer the IB Diploma but fall outside our top 8. Specifically: schools with three-year rolling averages below 31 points, schools where the IB cohort is smaller than 15 students per year (limiting subject breadth), and schools where IB authorisation is recent and outcomes data thin. We will revisit annually.

IB vs. British curriculum: which fits

For globally mobile families, IB tends to travel better than A-Level. recognition is broader and the Diploma's TOK and EE components are universally understood by university admissions. For families confident their child will return to a UK university, A-Level remains marginally preferred at the top of the academic distribution, particularly for STEM. See our deeper comparison in the IB vs. British curriculum guide.

Fees in context
