Edron Academy, Eton School and Westhill International round out the IB tier. Schools concentrate in Lomas, Polanco, Bosques and Santa Fe.

What didn't make the list

Several Mexico City schools offer IB Diploma but with smaller cohort sizes or insufficient three-year track records. Colegio Aleman Alexander von Humboldt offers strong German pathway with IB optionality but smaller IB cohort. Lycee Franco-Mexicain offers French Bac with IB optionality. Both worth investigating for nationality-specific pathways.

IB vs. American AP in Mexico City

ASF uniquely offers all three pathways (US diploma, AP and IB) at scale. For US-bound students, AP is often the more direct pathway; for globally mobile students, IB Diploma travels universally. Greengates and Edron are committed to IB Diploma as primary sixth-form pathway.

Mexican university question

Mexican university entry (UNAM, ITAM, Tec de Monterrey) traditionally requires CENEVAL exam and Mexican high school diploma; IB Diploma is increasingly recognised by Mexican universities but the CENEVAL pathway remains dominant. Most Mexican universities accept IB Diploma directly; some require additional CENEVAL preparation. For families committed to Mexican universities, IB plus CENEVAL preparation is optimal.

Fee context

Premium IB places at ASF or Greengates Mexico City cost MXN 360,000-460,000 per year (USD 18,000-23,000). Plus enrolment and capital fees. See our full Mexico City school fees report.
