AMI accreditation
AMI (Association Montessori Internationale) is the most rigorous accreditation, indicating that teaching staff are AMI-trained and the prepared environment meets full Montessori specification. AMS (American Montessori Society) is a respectable alternative. Schools without either accreditation should be questioned closely.
Geneva schools
Montessori Suisse Romande, the International Montessori School of Geneva, and Les Enfants Bilingues are the most established. Fees range from CHF 18,000 to 32,000 per year for primary-age children.
Transitioning out of Montessori
Most Geneva expat families transition out of Montessori at age 11 or 12 into the IB MYP at one of the Geneva international schools (Ecolint, Florimont, Lycée). The transition is smooth in most cases; visit the receiving school to verify the bridge.
