The regional picture
Latin America has stable international school markets in most capital cities, built over decades of European and US business presence. Mexico City, Sao Paulo, Buenos Aires, Bogotá, Santiago and Lima all host credible international schools.
Mexico City
American School Foundation, Greengates, Edron Academy and the British International School Mexico City lead. Strong IB and dual-pathway market.
Sao Paulo
Graded School (American), St Paul's (British), Escola Internacional, and the Swiss and German schools. Highest fee point in Latin America. Strong IB cohorts.
Buenos Aires
St Andrew's, Lincoln, Northlands, Belgrano Day School, the German Goethe Schule. Lower fees than Sao Paulo at comparable quality, with the Argentine peso adding planning friction.
Bogotá
Colegio Nueva Granada, Colegio Anglo Colombiano, Colegio Helvetia, Colegio Andino. See moving to Bogotá with children.
Santiago
Nido de Aguilas (American IB), The Grange (British), Colegio Internacional. Mature market with strong outcomes.
Common patterns
Spanish-language exposure is universal even at English-medium international schools. Fees are materially lower than Asia or the Gulf. The academic calendar runs February to December across most countries, the reverse of the Northern hemisphere.
