Toronto schools close on Ontario's statutory holidays. Good Friday and Easter Monday move with Easter; the rest are fixed. Schools also close for Easter Monday even though it is not a province-wide statutory holiday.

Family Day on the third Monday of February sits just before the back half of the school year and is a popular short-break weekend. Canada Day, Labour Day and Thanksgiving all fall outside or at the very edges of term, so they shape travel more than the school week.

Toronto TDSB term dates 2025-26 and 2026-27

The TDSB calendar is set within the Ontario Ministry of Education framework. The 2025-26 official school year runs from 1 September 2025 to 30 June 2026, with the last instructional day on 25 June. The single March Break in the third week of March is the distinctive Ontario break and the busiest family travel week of the winter, when flights south fill early. The 2026-27 calendar had not been confirmed in full at the time of writing; because Ontario schools start the day after Labour Day, expect the TDSB year to open on Tuesday 8 September 2026, but treat any 2026-27 figure as indicative until the board publishes it.

International and private school term dates

Toronto sits apart from most cities in this cluster: there are few standalone international schools, and the market is dominated by Ontario private and independent schools alongside the strong TDSB public system.
