The Munich IB landscape

Munich's IB Diploma is concentrated in two main schools. Munich International School (MIS) and Bavarian International School (BIS). Both are well-established with strong cohort outcomes. The European School Munich serves the European Patent Office and partner organisations, offering the European Baccalaureate. Smaller bilingual privates have begun adding IB pathways but cohort sizes remain small.

The Bavarian Abitur is among Germany's most academically demanding state qualifications and is highly portable internationally. For families committed to longer-term Bavaria residency and willing to develop strong German in their children, Bavarian Gymnasium delivers comparable academic rigour at zero direct cost.
