Milan schools close on Italian national public holidays plus the city's patron-saint day. Several spring dates move with Easter, which falls on 5 April in 2026.

The Sant'Ambrogio holiday on 7 December is unique to Milan and falls next to the national Immaculate Conception on 8 December, creating a two-day city break that opens the Christmas season and the La Scala opera year.
