The nursery and preschool fee range in Seoul
Seoul's foreign international schools usually admit children from pre-kindergarten or kindergarten (around ages three to five). Early-years tuition tracks the school's wider tier: roughly USD 13,000 to USD 20,000 at smaller and mid-tier international schools, USD 20,000 to USD 27,000 upper-mid, and USD 27,000 to USD 33,000 at premium schools including Seoul Foreign School, Seoul International School, Korea International School Seoul and Yongsan International School of Seoul.
An important eligibility point: many of Seoul's established foreign schools require at least one parent to hold foreign nationality, or the child to have lived abroad, under Korean rules on foreign educational institutions. Confirm eligibility before you shortlist. For the whole-school context see our Seoul international school fees guide.

What drives the cost
Three factors drive Seoul early-years fees. First, the foreign-school premium: established English-medium campuses with large facilities sit at the top, while smaller international and bilingual providers offer the early years for less. Second, eligibility scarcity. because the foreign schools restrict entry by nationality, demand concentrates on a limited set of places, keeping premium fees firm. Third, session structure and ratios: full-day kindergarten with specialist staff costs more than part-day provision. Korean state kindergartens are far cheaper but have limited eligibility for expat children depending on visa class.
Hidden costs beyond tuition
Total cost adds roughly 10 to 15 per cent. The main early-years line items are registration or enrolment (KRW 1.5M to 4M one-time), the school bus (KRW 4M to 7M, near-essential given Seoul's distances), lunch (KRW 2.5M to 4.5M), and materials or technology charges. Uniform is uncommon at kindergarten level. The Korean won has been relatively stable against the dollar recently, so USD-paid families have seen fee changes broadly mirror the local increases.

Not always. Many of Seoul's established foreign schools require at least one parent to hold foreign nationality, or the child to have lived overseas, under Korean rules. Check eligibility before shortlisting, as it can rule out otherwise suitable schools.
Expect registration (KRW 1.5M to 4M), the school bus (KRW 4M to 7M), and lunch (KRW 2.5M to 4.5M). These add roughly 10 to 15 per cent on top of tuition.
Early-years tuition usually sits at or just below the school's primary fees. The clearer savings come from a smaller international or bilingual provider, or a state kindergarten where your child is eligible, rather than a premium foreign school.
