Curriculum and academics

Al Waha follows the British curriculum adapted from the National Curriculum of England and Wales. Younger pupils work through the core subjects of English, mathematics and science alongside the foundation subjects, while senior pupils in Grades 9 to 12 prepare for the Cambridge IGCSE and the General Certificate of Education at Advanced Level. Teaching is in English throughout. The school is an attached Cambridge International centre for examinations and an associate school with Cambridge, and it is an attached centre of the British Council for examinations. It is also a member of the Council of International Schools and holds Cognia accreditation, both of which involve external review of standards. We report the programme as the school describes it and do not publish examination results we cannot verify, so ask the school directly for recent IGCSE and A Level outcomes and university destinations.

Admissions

The academic year runs on an August to June calendar with the main intake in the autumn term and places offered into other year groups where space exists. Assessment is age appropriate, with settling observation for the youngest children and curriculum based testing in English and mathematics for older applicants, supported by previous school reports. Families relocating to Jeddah should apply ahead of the year they need a place, as popular year groups fill early at a large and established school. The school sets out the residency and transfer documents it asks for during the application.

Location and who goes there

Al Waha operates from four campuses in the Ar Rehab area of Jeddah, which keeps year groups on manageable sites and shortens the commute for families living nearby. It draws a broad international community alongside Saudi families who want an English medium British education at a mid market fee. The right school in Jeddah usually comes down to the curriculum you want, the fee you can sustain across several years and the daily commute, so it is worth visiting in person.
