Curriculum and academics

International School of London runs the full IB curriculum, from the Primary Years Programme in the early and primary stages, through the Middle Years Programme, to the Diploma Programme and the Career related Programme at sixth form. Offering both Diploma and Career related routes at the top of the school gives families a choice between a traditional academic path and one that pairs IB study with a vocational specialism, which is less common among London IB schools.

The school's signature is its mother tongue language programme. ISL teaches up to two dozen home languages so children continue to develop their first language while learning in English, included at no extra charge where a language group reaches at least five students. That focus reflects an intake of globally mobile families and a long history, since the school was founded in 1972 as one of the earliest international schools in the country. ISL features in our overview of the London zones for international schools as the established international option in the west of the city.
