Bangkok hosts NIST, one of the original IB World Schools (founded as an IB-only school in 1992). Surrounding it is a cluster of strong dual-curriculum schools that run IB alongside British or American pathways. Cohort sizes are large enough to support broad subject choice, and the city's English-language teaching pool is deep.

The default first choice for IB-committed families relocating to Bangkok.
International School Bangkok (ISB)
The premier American-curriculum school in Thailand, running both AP and IB Diploma. Strong dual offering. Particularly suited to families wanting flexibility for US or globally-portable destinations. ISB's IB cohort is smaller than NIST's but well-resourced. Faculty stability is among Bangkok's best.
KIS International School
Full IB continuum school with strong service-learning focus. Smaller and more intimate than NIST. Cohort outcomes solid. Particularly worth considering for families who want IB philosophy in a less competitive academic atmosphere than NIST.
Bromsgrove International School Thailand
British heritage school with growing IB Diploma cohort. Most students take A-Level; IB pathway suits the more globally-mobile sixth-form intake. Beautiful campus. Best for British-curriculum families wanting an IB option without leaving the school.
Bangkok Patana School
Bangkok's largest premium British curriculum school. IB pathway is smaller than the A-Level cohort but well-staffed and has strengthened year-on-year. Strong music and arts programmes. Significant capital investment in IB facilities since 2023.
Wells International School
Upper-mid fee-tier school with credible IB cohort. Smaller scale; more personalised university counselling. Particularly worth considering for families seeking IB Diploma with smaller cohort and lower fees than NIST.
What didn't make the list
Several Bangkok schools offer IB Diploma but with cohort averages below 31 points or insufficient years of outcomes data to assess. We will revisit annually as more schools mature.
Comparing IB pathway to A-Level in Bangkok
A-Level remains common at British schools (Patana, Shrewsbury, Harrow Bangkok, Bromsgrove). IB has gained ground particularly at NIST and within KIS, ISB and the dual-pathway schools. For globally mobile families IB tends to travel better; for families committed to UK university destinations A-Level is marginally preferred at the top of the academic distribution.
