The Mumbai school landscape
Mumbai's flagship international school is The American School of Bombay (ASB), founded in 1981 in BKC and the heritage US-curriculum school for diplomatic and corporate families. Dhirubhai Ambani International School (DAIS) is India's most selective and prestigious IB school. Bombay International School (BIS), Cathedral & John Connon School, and Oberoi International School compete at the premium end. JBCN International, Aditya Birla World Academy, and the Ecole Mondiale World School serve the broader IB community.
Indian schools traditionally segregate by curriculum board (CBSE, ICSE, CAIE, IB). Many premium schools now run dual-track CAIE+IB programmes for upper secondary. Most expat families choose either ASB or one of the top-tier IB/Cambridge schools.
