The Singapore international secondary landscape
Singapore has around 32 international schools operating a substantial Year 7 to Year 13 Secondary section, including 12 dedicated sixth form providers. The Secondary curriculum landscape is more fragmented than the Primary one: IGCSE at Year 11 remains the dominant Key Stage 4 qualification (offered by 18 schools), Middle Years Programme (MYP) by 9 schools, and the American Lower Middle and High School model by 6 schools. The Australian and Canadian schools run their own equivalents.
The sixth form picture is where Singapore differentiates. IB Diploma Programme is offered at 18 schools, A Level at 7 schools (including Tanglin Trust and Dulwich Singapore, which run both IB and A Level), and the American High School Diploma with AP at 4 schools. ACS (International) and Tanglin Trust are the only two providers that run all three sixth form pathways inside one campus, giving students flexibility to make the pathway choice at the end of IGCSE.
Singapore Diploma outcomes are the strongest in Asia: a city average of 36.8 in the May 2025 IB session against a global average of 30.3. A Level outcomes at Tanglin Trust and Dulwich Singapore consistently sit above 70 percent A and A grades, and AP outcomes at Singapore American School run roughly 84 percent of students scoring 3 or above on at least one AP exam.
Fees and Singapore tiers
Singapore Secondary tuition sits in three rough tiers. The value tier, S$28,000 to S$36,000, covers ISS International, the smaller Australian and Canadian schools, and the value IB and IGCSE providers. The mid tier, S$36,000 to S$44,000, covers Stamford American, Australian International School, GEMS World Academy and Chatsworth International at the Secondary stage. The premium tier, S$44,000 to S$52,000, sits at UWCSEA Dover and East, Tanglin Trust Senior, Dulwich College Singapore Senior, and Singapore American School Upper School at the Diploma year groups.
Published tuition does not include exam fees. IGCSE exam fees run S$1,400 to S$2,200 across a typical eight subject load. IB Diploma exam registration plus subject fees add S$1,400 to S$2,200. A Level entry fees through Cambridge run S$1,200 to S$1,800. AP exam fees are charged per subject at around S$170 each. Our Singapore fees guide sets out the loading mathematics for sixth form. The fees comparison tool stacks Singapore Secondary tuition against Hong Kong, Tokyo and Bangkok at the same year group.

Illustrative example schools
The five schools below are illustrative, not a ranking. Each runs Year 7 to Year 13 Secondary with externally verified IB, A Level or AP outcomes.
UWCSEA Dover Senior School is the most academically selective Secondary entry in Singapore. UWCSEA offers IGCSE at Key Stage 4 and IB Diploma at sixth form, with cohort averages of 38 points or more. The senior advisory and university counselling programme is widely considered the strongest in Asia.
Tanglin Trust Senior School at Portsdown is the only British heritage school in Singapore offering both IB Diploma and A Level at sixth form. The school runs IGCSE at Key Stage 4 and gives students the pathway choice at Year 11.
Singapore American School Upper School at Woodlands runs the US high school model (Grades 9 to 12) with the option of US diploma plus AP or US diploma plus IB Diploma. The deepest American sixth form provision in Asia by enrolment and breadth.
Dulwich College Singapore Senior School at Bukit Batok runs IGCSE at Key Stage 4 followed by IB Diploma (with A Level as a small option at sixth form). Strong music, drama and Mandarin departments and a deep British heritage feeder structure.
Where Secondary families live
Secondary families in Singapore generally favour proximity to school plus access to MRT stations and after school enrichment. Holland Village, Bukit Timah and Tanglin for UWCSEA Dover and Tanglin Trust. East Coast, Siglap and Tanjong Katong for UWCSEA East and the Australian International School. Woodlands for Singapore American School families. Bukit Batok, Clementi and Buona Vista for Dulwich College Singapore. Tiong Bahru, Outram and Robertson Quay for ACS (International) and the central sixth form providers.
Rental premiums at the Tanglin and Holland Village catchments run 15 to 25 percent over comparable Singapore zones, the highest in the city. The East Coast belt has appreciated faster than the city average over the past three years as families relocating from Hong Kong have prioritised proximity to UWCSEA East and the Australian International School. Older teenagers have more independence on the MRT network, so families with sixth form children sometimes choose to live slightly further from the school to maximise housing budget.
Admissions calendar
The Singapore international school year runs August to June. Year 7 applications for August 2026 entry opened at most schools in August 2025. UWCSEA closed its Year 7 intake list in early December 2025 with offers issued February to March 2026. Tanglin Trust ran a parallel cycle ending in January. Sixth form (Year 12) entries at the IB Diploma providers were largely closed by February 2026 because Diploma subject selection drives timetabling.
Year 12 transfers after September are very rarely accepted because Diploma subjects, internal assessments and CAS planning are already underway. Year 10 and 11 transfers during the IGCSE programme are possible but require careful subject matching. Mid year arrivals at Years 7 to 9 are accommodated subject to year group availability and may include placement testing in mathematics, English and a modern foreign language. Apply at least 4 to 6 months ahead with the previous two years of school reports in PDF.
