The Muscat school landscape
The flagship is The American British Academy (ABA), founded in 1977 and the heritage US/UK-curriculum school for diplomatic, oil & gas and corporate families. The British School Muscat (BSM) is the BSO-accredited British flagship. The Sultan's School serves both Omani elite and expat families with a unique IB DP / Cambridge programme. Muscat International School, American International School Muscat, and Lycée Français de Mascate serve the wider international community.
Oman is the most lifestyle-friendly Gulf country for families, with mountains, beaches and a notably relaxed atmosphere. PDO (Petroleum Development Oman) and BP have long-running expat compounds with excellent schools nearby.
